Meet Starling House
Our 65 year old beauty!
This home was built in 1957 and still has all the original exterior brick, and stone fireplace. She (yes, we decided Starling House is female) is currently a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath house. But we have plans to change all of that! We also have a HUGE backyard with a lovely garden, sitting on almost a half acre.
Why Starling House?
Well, the day we first walked through, we noticed a bunch of Starlings in the grass, pecking at the dirt. Unfortunately, this is not actually a good sign for our grass and gardens, as Starlings love to eat little grubs that are pests! But we will address those pests another time.
Right now, we have plans on plans for our baby! Phase One is adding a bathroom and kitchenette in the basement to rent out to young couples. Next, we will be updating the upstairs by moving around the kitchen and replacing all floors and appliances! I have quite the vision for these projects and we are planning on fancying up each room with a Cottage-core style. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but think limewash and plaster, raw wood focal points, stone accents, and vintage finds all around!
Each project will also be budgeted and DIYed and I am dedicating the time and resources to find the best price+value combinations to share it all with you! Follow along as I recap our basement projects and document in real time our current upstairs renovation!
